Find My Birthday Dress is run by Ailing Ding in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She is responsible for the personal information described here. Write to [email protected] with any privacy question or request.

What we collect and why

Your quiz answers

Your answers, including size, event date and city, stay in this browser tab. Some choices, like occasion, budget and colour, are part of the results page address, so our analytics see them as part of that address. Your size, event date and city are never sent to analytics or saved by us.

Text you type to describe your look

If you type a description instead of tapping answers, we send that text (up to 600 characters) to an AI service that turns it into quiz options. It goes to Hetzner (EU) first and, if that fails, to Groq (US). We don’t store or log the text.

Birthday list

If you join, we keep your email, your birthday month and day, a few quiz choices (venue, style, colour, budget) and the date you joined. We use them to send your birthday email and occasional newsletters. Every email has an unsubscribe link. When you unsubscribe, we keep your email marked as unsubscribed so we never email you again; ask us at [email protected] to delete it completely. We also keep a record of which emails we sent you.

Toronto pickup list

If you ask us to tell you when pickup launches, we keep your email, what you asked for, the occasion, whether you’re in the GTA, a rough deadline window and when you agreed. We use it only to send the launch email. You can remove yourself anytime where you signed up (in the same browser), or by email.

Your account

An account is optional. We keep your email (or your Google sign-in), the dresses you heart, the looks and searches you save, your style memory if you copy it to your account, and your birthday (day, month and year) if you add it. You can remove the birthday anytime. We never keep your event date, size or city in your account. Deleting your account removes all of this, but not your place on the birthday or pickup list: use the unsubscribe link or email us for those.

Style memory

Style memory is off unless you turn it on. It stays in this browser unless you choose to copy it to your account or save a look while signed in. You can see, edit or delete it on Your style.

Analytics

Google Analytics counts page views and actions such as finishing the quiz or opening a retailer’s link (with that link, its price and the style). It never receives your name, email, typed text, size, city or event date. Microsoft Clarity records clicks, taps and scrolling so we can find confusing parts of a page; its recordings hide your size, dates, city, typed text and email. Both run only on findmybirthdaydress.com, and only after you accept cookies.

Affiliate links

We may earn a commission through the affiliate networks Impact and Rakuten Advertising. When you click a retailer link, the network and the retailer can set cookies and receive details of the click: your IP address, browser, the time, the page you came from and a sub-ID that tells us which part of our site the link was on. The retailer tells the network if you buy. We get only totals, such as click and order counts, never your name or email. This happens on their sites when you click, so it also happens if you reject cookies here. Impact’s script, which can turn retailer links into tracked links, loads only after you accept cookies. Emails you send us

If you write to [email protected], we keep your message so we can answer it and fix what you reported.

Delivery, fonts and photos

Every visit passes through Cloudflare, which protects and delivers the site. Fonts load from Google Fonts, and dress photos load from each retailer’s own site. These services see your IP address and browser, as with any web request.

Cookies and browser storage

Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and Impact set cookies only if you accept them. Until you choose, they don’t load. You can change your choice anytime with Cookie choices in the site footer. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a Reject and don’t ask. The site itself keeps a few items in your browser: your cookie choice, your language, your quiz answers for this tab, dresses you save without an account, style memory if you turn it on, a random ID for testing page versions, and your sign-in if you have an account. You can also block or clear cookies and site data in your browser settings, or use Google’s opt-out add-on.

What we never do

We never sell or rent your email or account data. We never send your name, email or typed text to analytics or affiliate networks.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, or withdraw your consent, by writing to [email protected]. With an account, you can also delete it yourself or download a copy of your account data on your account page. We answer requests within 30 days. If you’re in Canada and not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. Readers in the United States and elsewhere can make the same requests by email.

Adults only

Find My Birthday Dress is for adults 18 and older, and every form that asks for your email asks you to confirm that. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a minor gave us information, email [email protected] and we’ll delete it.

Where your data is processed

We’re based in Canada. Our server is run by Hetzner in Helsinki, Finland. Our service providers (Cloudflare, Supabase, Resend, Google, Microsoft, Groq, Impact and Rakuten Advertising) may store or process data in the United States, the European Union or elsewhere, where the law may differ from Canada’s.

When this policy changes, we update the date at the top of this page.
